Final: My life on the road

As a woman, Gloria's life experience is very colorful. Her experiences on the road made her is an Open-Minded and observant person, also these experiences led her to believe what she saw, she would make an objective evaluation and capability to see the muti-faced of things and no longer trust media new report: In fact, many questions have three or seven or a dozen sides. Sometimes I think the only real division into two is between people who divide everything into two, and those who don’t. Altogether, if I’d been looking at nothing but the media all these years, I would be a much more discouraged person—especially given the notion that only conflict is news, and that objectivity means being evenhandedly negative. On the road, I learned that the media are not reality; reality is reality.

Gloria is not only an observer but also is a participant in many significant historical events. As a witness of famous speech by Martin Luther King at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington on August 28, 1963, Gloria said that MLK was encouraged by a woman and then made a great speech in history “I have a dream……” Thankfully, 50 years later, the status of Black and female has been greatly improved; while, Gloria has some experience with the U.S. presidential election campaign, and this is my favorite part the book, and I have some resonate with her: Gloria wrote that the Hillary Haters often turned out to be the women most like her: white, well educated, and married to or linked with powerful men; Gloria was angary “ it was okay for two graves of Bush sons to inherit power from a political patriarchy even if they spent no time in the White House, but not okay for one Clinton wife to claim experience and inherit power from a husband whose full political partner she had been for twenty years”, Hilary heater used two sets of standards to treat Hillary Clinton running for president of the United States. Those women are tolerant toward the man without experience or talent in politics; But instead of supporting her, Hillary, who is also a woman, they have been on the opposite side of her, and it's really heartbreaking. In my opinion, it is disappointing that women don’t help other women, and this is a huge obstacle on the way to equality between men and women. I also often see some different types of female groups attack each other: some professional women will criticize housewives that they are an ignorant group, they have no income and relay on husband to financial support, especially housewives lack the ability to contribute to society; on the other hand, housewives will criticize that the professional women go outside for work due to their husband cannot make enough money support the whole family. Therefore, I think besides having social activists like Gloria voiced for women and fight for women rights, as women themselves we should also eliminate stereotypes about women, and try to help each other at first.
